What’s not to love about summertime bike riding? Warm breezes and sunshine. More opportunities to take your road bike out on long, windy backroads or your mountain bike out on an adventurous trail. It could also mean bicycle cruises to the beach or along the boardwalk. Wherever you’re riding your bike or whatever your level of intensity, there are a few key pieces of cycling gear that you should highly consider for summer riding. Here are a few of our picks. (Hint: They’ll work hard to keep you as sweat-free as possible.)

RALPHA CLASSIC FLYWEIGHT JERSEY, MYR 668.64

Whether you’re on a road bike, mountain bike or cruiser, you’ll want to wear a lightweight and breathable top that wicks sweat away and dries quickly. Rapha designed its Classic Flyweight Jersey with summertime riding in mind. It allows air to flow freely and features thoughtful details like lightweight zippers and mesh lining for ventilation. You’ll find colorways for both men and women, too.

LULULEMON CITY TO SUMMIT CYCLING SHORT, MYR 684.68

Bike shorts as a fashion trend arrived in 2019. We weren’t really complaining because it gave us a reason to wear them out in public without the strange sidelong glances. However, the trendy ones aren’t exactly functional. Instead, any moisture-wicking athletic short will do for more casual rides. Cycling shorts, on the other hand, are ideal for longer, more strenuous rides. Check out the Lululemon City to Summit Cycling Short, which features all the pockets you need to store every important thing like keys, phone, credit cards, and more while you ride. It comes in sizes for both men and women.

VELOCIO BRETON SIGNATURE SOCK, MYR 101.63

Gone are the days of stinky, sweaty feet. Much like a bike riding jersey, socks for bicycling during the summertime should be lightweight, breathable, and made of synthetic fabrics or merino wool. The Velocio Breton Signature Sock is a crowd-pleaser. Plus, the striped prints add a little extra pop of interest.

THOUSAND BIKE GLOVES, MYR 123.03

Get a good grip while keeping your palms cool and dry. Our Little 5 Bike Gloves in Creme have short-cut fingers, padding, and cotton crocheted detailing for comfort and ultimate breathability. Bike commuters and casual cyclists alike have been pleased with the design and functionality making them ideal for all types of bicycle riding.

PEARL IZUMI TRANSFER LITE HEADBAND, MYR 64.19

Let’s talk about cycling headbands. We know it can get sweaty underneath even a lightweight bike helmet so that’s where one of these super thin pieces of fabric come into play. They help to keep sweat out of your eyes and from dripping down your face. The Pearl Izumi Transfer Lite Headband is designed with performance in mind, yet is simple enough that every type of bicyclist could wear one.

THINKSPORT SUNSCREEN SPF 50, MYR 64.19

Protect yourself from harmful UVA/UVB rays. Cycling around in the summer sun can take a real toll on your precious skin. Dermatologists will tell you that sunscreen for your face should be an essential part of your daily skin care routine no matter the season. But, it’s especially essential during the summertime months. Apply a layer of sunscreen, like the environmentally friendly and water-resistant Thinksport Sunscreen SPF 50, on exposed skin about 15 minutes before you head out for a bike ride. Pack a small, portable sunscreen stick like the certified-natural Raw Elements Face Stick SPF 30 for touch-ups on the go. Remember, sunscreen isn’t a one-and-done thing. Reapply as needed.
